BET TYPES
Some betting opportunities have two markets available, namely win or each way. The Win market means that your selection must be £1 successful to have a return. Each Way means your selection must either be successful or be placed to have a return (top 3 (or whatever the place terms are) in horse racing, or maybe 'to reach the final' in a tournament, or cup competition. A £1 each way bet costs £2, £1 of which goes on your selection to win and £1 that goes on at some fraction (lower odd's - i,e, 1/4 odd's depending on the terms) of the odds to be first, second, third and sometimes even fourth. The place terms for every event are displayed with that event on our website.

16. Tricast: A Tricast is a bet that involves correctly predicting the first, second and third place in a particular event. The number of bets depends on the number of selections. A tricast is normally available on handicap races of 8 or more runners in Horse Racing events and 5 or more runner in Greyhound Racing events.

17. Combination Tricast: :A Combination Tricast is a bet where the customer can choose a number of selections in a tricast race, any three of which must finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd in any order. In effect a combination tricast is a series of straight tricast bets and therefore requires multiple stakes according to the number of selections specified.

18. Tote Placepot: A Tote bet that doesn't even need 1 winner. The bet requires at least one placed selection from each of the first 6 races at a horse meeting. To calculate the number of bets multiply the number of selections in each race, 1 in each = 1 x 1 x 1 x 1 x 1 x 1 = 1 bet, 2 in each = 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 = 64 bets. The dividend declared is variable, depending on the size of the Tote pool and the number of winning tickets. Place Dividends shows the finishing positions that count as successful depending on the number of runners in each race.

19. Tote Quadpot: Same principal as the placepot, just pick a horse to be placed in each of the four totequadpot races which are normally races 3, 4, 5 and 6.

20. Tote Scoop6: Same principles as the Placepot but one big difference. The first 6 WINNERS of the 6 telivised races (channel 4 racing) every Saturday, not places must be selected! The bet is staked in the same way as a Placepot but calculating the winnings is easier as it is only possible to have one winning line, Multiply: unit stake X dividend. In the event of a dead heat two dividends would be declared so use the Placepot method, multiply: number of winning lines X unit stake X dividend, if both dead heaters are selected. Again the dividend declared is variable, depending on the size of the Tote pool and the number of winning tickets. If nobody wins the scoop6 the cash rolls over to the following Saturday and pools of £100,000's can be generated. Placepot pools can also rollover to the following day but this happens very rarely. As of writing this the Tote jackpot today (12/05/07) reached an incredible £2,350,000

21. Tote Jackpot: Same principal as the scoop6, Pick the winners of the six totejackpot races at the nominated totejackpot meeting each day.

22. Place only: In this bet the selection only needs to place (see bookies place terms) in the top 3 (for example) for the bet to be considered a winner.

23. Handicaps: Often used when one selection is fancied more than the other, In basketball for example - the 'Dallas Maverics' are expected to beat the 'Boston Celtics' and are very short odd's to win. A handicap could be put in place to make the betting 'a bit more even' if you will. Such as giving the Celtics a 12.5 point head start. This would give them a much more realistic chance of winning.
